Irv and Shelly’s Fresh Picks

Irv and Shelly’s Fresh Picks was founded by two Chicago locals who wanted to help local farmers who are growing food without chemicals, hormones, antibiotics or GMOs.

They do a lot of social good including partnering with schools, food pantries and other community groups.

Smaller sized produce pick boxes start at $15 + $6.50 delivery charge

Green Grocer Chicago

Green Grocer Chicago is a neighborhood specialty market that features organic and locally produced foods.  From early May through late October, you can participate in their seasonal shares, a produce and vegetable box that is sourced from local farmers.

Delivery: Local delivery is available for $8 within the boundaries of North to North Ave, South to Van Buren Ave, East to State St, West to Western. Pick up is free at Green Grocer (1402 W Grand Ave)

A Single Share is $18 per week, Share Plus $26, Double Share $32

Montalbano Farms

Montalbano Farms is a 25-acre farm based in Sandwich, Illinois and you can join their yearly CSA (community sponsored agriculture) which means you can share their harvest of crops for a fee. All of their crops are grown under organic conditions yet only part of their farm is certified organic, with the other eligible in summer 2016.

Delivery: Montalbano doesn’t deliver, you pick up for free ad designated spots

CSA shares run weekly from June – November and cost between $350 – $990 depending in size
